Who Is The Leading Voice For Men That We Can Look Up To?

The leading voice that men should look up to isn't an influencer, politician, or anybody famous. In fact, it's not even an individual person.

I was recently asked on a podcast, "Who is the leading voice for men that we can look up to?" and this was my response.

The men we should be looking up to are the ones who are more than likely never going to get the attention that they deserve for being those men...

They are dads.

They are the men who have the weight of the world and their families on their shoulders, and they don't complain, they don't quit.

They just show up every day and pour into their family and friends.

As a society, we have started replacing what's valuable with what gets attention...

What is valuable is showing up for your kid's events, throwing batting practice in the backyard, and reading a bedtime story to your daughter so that she knows she has a powerful man ready and able to protect her from all her fears.

It's being a friend that everyone in your life knows they can call at 3:00 am, and you won't only not be bothered by the call, but you will be excited and honored that your friend picked you to reach out to in their time of need.

It's the people around you who not only know that you are willing to help them, but also able to.

It's the man who has the house in order and is physically, financially, and emotionally disciplined so that when they get that call, they can respond and help accordingly.

I want to share a quick story from yesterday about one such man, my friend Michael Van Tassell.

A few years ago, I had Mike on my podcast and he talked all about his hobby, "metal detecting"...

Sounds a bit strange, probably, but this is something that Mike has become world-class at...

When someone loses a wedding ring or expensive watch, Mike gets the call to go look for it, usually in a giant field or covered in snow, and sometimes even underwater in places such as Lake Powell.

A few months back, my men's group was up at Bear Lake, and one of the members lost his phone while we were sledding.

The phone itself wouldn't have been such a big deal, but this guy had a photo of his crypto password in this photo album, and it wasn't saved anywhere besides his phone.

He had about half of his net worth on those crypto accounts, so losing the phone was devastating...

Long story short, after the phone was lost, I called Mike. Keep in mind, you can't even hire this guy; he only does it because he loves to help, and then he gets paid whatever the person chooses to, 100% on tips.

That next day, in a blizzard, Mike searched for hours but didn't find it....

A few weeks later, he went back up and spent half a Sunday trying again, once again, coming back empty-handed...

Then I got a text from Mike a few days ago and it said, "So I was coming to Bear Lake for Memorial Day, figured I'd walk the hill on the last night..."

He had found the phone!

This man, who doesn't have a large following, who doesn't do this for the likes or the status, decided to go spend his holiday searching one more time, and in the process became a real-life superhero to my friend Blake.

These are the types of men I was referring to in my recent video, men like my brothers, my brother-in-laws, and the hundreds of men inside of We Are The They who have truly formed a brotherhood unmatched around the world.

I'm so proud to be friends with men like Mike and to know that I can call on so many men like this when I need them.

Not for my own selfish desires, but because I know that they can help the men who have trusted me.
