The Flywheel & Why You Need to Understand It To Make 2020 Your Best Year Ever!

You hear that January is the worst month of the year and that Monday is the worst day of the week all of the time. Granted, it means you have a ways to go before a break comes, but then again, who wants to live your life trying to get to the next break?

January is beautiful because it is a new season. It's a time to start over, a fresh start. I believe it was Victor Hugo who said, "Even the darkest of the night will end, and the sun will rise."

The problem with making big changes in life is that they come after making such little changes... daily... consistently over time. If we want things to change in our lives, we have to get extremely focused on the small decisions we make every day. There is a compounding effect that takes place, and eventually, you get into motion. The best I ever heard it explained is in the Jim Collins book "Good to Great" here is an excerpt of the book that everyone needs to understand.

"Picture a huge, heavy flywheel—a massive metal disk mounted horizontally on an axle, about 30 feet in diameter, 2 feet thick, and weighing about 5,000 pounds. Now imagine that your task is to get the flywheel rotating on the axle as fast as you can and for as long as possible. Pushing with great effort, you get the flywheel to inch forward, moving almost slowly at first. You keep pushing and, after two or three hours of persistent effort, you get the flywheel to complete one entire turn. You keep pushing, and the flywheel begins to move a bit faster, and with continued great effort, you move it around a second rotation. You keep pushing in a consistent direction. Three turns ... four ... five ... six ... the flywheel builds up speed ... seven ... eight ... you keep pushing ... nine ... ten ... it builds momentum ... eleven ... twelve ... moving faster with each turn ... twenty ... thirty ... fifty ... a hundred.

Then, at some point—breakthrough! The momentum of the thing kicks in in your favor, hurling the flywheel forward, turn after turn ... whoosh! ... its heavyweight is working for you. You're pushing no harder than during the first rotation, but the flywheel goes faster and faster. Each turn of the flywheel builds upon work done earlier, compounding your investment of effort. A thousand times faster, then ten thousand, then a hundred thousand. The huge massive disk flies forward, with almost unstoppable momentum."

This is how it is in life! In 2020 focus on the first spin and then the second spin and so on. Don't look at how many turns your wheel has made but focus instead on getting the momentum. This is when the magic happens and you are in "flow."

Last year I hosted a mastermind to help clients get into the flow, to build momentum. It was a 12-week course that I sold for several hundred dollars. I've been focusing all my masterminds on real estate this year, but I want to help anyone that's looking to jump-start there year. If you're going to sign up to receive a session of my goal setting Mastermind from last year every week for the next 12 weeks, then I have some great news. I'm going to give it away. All I ask is that when you take the course and as it helps you change your life, that you will introduce me to others so that we can help them too to jump-start their 2020, get into momentum, and keep it going to make this the best year of your life!
